It is a social responsibility to ensure that all workers in the supply chain are renumerated and provided with all their legal entitlements as an employee.

What does a business need to do to get accredited?

If you manufacture any clothing and footwear in Australia, you are eligible for accreditation.

If you add value to any clothing in Australia you can apply for accreditation, but there are some guideline surrounding this.

Any clothing and textiles that are manufactured within Australia, are eligible for accreditation, providing all employees are treated according to the stringent guidelines.

Once you’ve submitted all your information to the ECA (Ethical Clothing Australia) it can take up to a year to assess. Each portion of the supply chain is vigorously checked to ensure it fulfils the obligations of Ethical Clothing Australia

Fees are based on a range of factors, such as the supply chain, length of time in business and the size of the organisation. As a rough guide, accreditation can cost anywhere from $300 – $6000 annually.
